Leaving, Arriving, Belonging (Hardcover)
Details
The biggest thing that ever happened to a migrant family is usually the thing least written down. This book gets it recorded properly: the town you left, why you left, what the journey was actually like, and the first winter, first job and first friend on the other side.
For families whose parents arrived with one suitcase, for children who have only ever heard the short version, and for aged-care and community programs working with older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Two hundred questions, one to a page, with room for names, routes and the words in a first language that never quite translate.
