Expert Sudoku Puzzle Books

Expert sudoku puzzle books for people who finish the newspaper grid before the kettle boils. Analog Society publishes two: Expert Sudoku — 200 Hard Puzzles and Expert Sudoku — 300 Hard Puzzles. Every puzzle has a page of its own, and there is one large grid on each 8.5 x 11 page, so there is room to pencil in candidates without squinting or cramping your notes. Full solutions sit at the back.

They are for experienced solvers, and for anyone buying for one: the parent who has worn out every free puzzle app, the retiree who wants a proper challenge at the kitchen table, the commuter who would rather think than scroll. A sudoku on paper is half an hour with no notifications, and a finished book is proof of it. Each copy is printed to order.

What is inside

Both books open with a short page on the rules and how to approach a hard grid, then go straight to the puzzles. One puzzle per page, numbered and labelled, with one large grid to the page. There is no filler between them: no quotes, no colouring pages, no easy warm-ups. The solutions are printed at the back, several to a page, so you can check one answer without spoiling the next puzzle.

200 Hard Puzzles runs to 262 pages. 300 Hard Puzzles runs to 388 pages. Both are 8.5 x 11 inches (US Letter).

Who gives it, and why

Most of these books are bought for someone else. A father or grandfather who does the hard sudoku every morning and has run out. A mother who has finished the phone app and wants the puzzles on paper again. Someone recovering at home who wants a task that takes real attention and does not involve a screen. A book that sits on the kitchen table, beside the chair, or in a bag for the train is an easier gift to give than an app subscription, and when it is done it is finished, not deleted.

They suit a solver who already knows the basic techniques. If the person you are buying for is new to sudoku, these will be too hard; start them on an easier book.

How the books are made

Every copy is printed to order and sent from the printer, not from a warehouse shelf. Our shipping policy says it plainly: “Shipping is free on every order, within Australia and internationally. There is no minimum order value. Everything we sell is made to order.” Because each book is printed for its buyer, there are no returns for change of mind; if a copy arrives damaged or misprinted, email within 30 days of delivery with photos and, where applicable, we will arrange a replacement or refund at no cost to you. Published under our Sovereign Publishing imprint.

How to choose

Both are one puzzle to a page at the same 8.5 x 11 size, so the choice is only about how many puzzles you want.

Questions

Are the grids large?

Yes. Each puzzle has a page of its own, with one grid about 14 to 14.6 cm (5.5 to 5.75 inches) square and the given numbers printed large, so there is room to write candidate numbers in the cells. The covers say large print for this reason.

Can I write in them with a pen?

You can, but on expert puzzles most solvers work in pencil so that candidate numbers can be rubbed out. There is room in each cell for notes.

Are the solutions included?

Yes. Full solutions for every puzzle are printed at the back of each book.

How long does delivery take?

Every book is printed to order. Our shipping policy gives these estimates: “Paperback journals and books — approximately 10–12 business days. Hardcover books — approximately 4 weeks. Delivery times are estimates and may be longer for remote destinations or during busy periods, particularly November and December.” Shipping is free, within Australia and internationally.

Which book should I start with?

Both are expert level. If you are buying for a solver who already finds hard newspaper puzzles comfortable, either will suit; choose by how many puzzles you want, 200 or 300.

Can I return it if it is too hard?

No. Books are printed individually for each order, so we do not accept returns for change of mind. A damaged, misbound or misprinted copy is a different matter: email us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and photos.
